2021 Reflections and 2022 goals

Unlike many people, I am beyond blessed to report that 2021 has been one of the best years that I can remember.

I had three New Year’s Resolutions for 2021. This time last year, none of them felt possible.

  1. Get 10,000 views on a single piece of media- achieved February 17, with a TikTok that received over 125,000 views
  2. Get a job- achieved November 1, had a positive summer internship with the company before they hired me. I had a job intern at a local nursing home in the activities department, because of a few staff turnovers, and because I was good at it, they let me continue working! I love working there even though some days are beyond exhausting.
  3. Keep my grades at an adequate level- achieved December 10. Spring semester was not great, I almost dropped out. I went back in the Fall, and motivation from work, friends, and experiencing it in person, earned mid 90% in both of my classes!

There are some new things about 2021. I went on my first date and kissed him. I thought I discovered someone to ride or die with, but we both had a bit more growing up to do. I felt cared for, not solely by him, but from individuals I worked with. Along with that had my heart break a few times. I found people who appreciated me for the first time in my recent life, and I could be with them during the final stages of their life- it honored me to be of a comfort to people who are occasionally hard to reach.

I figured out how to handle my cerebral palsy better and went from having a rough time getting through the day to today. Today I took a walk around my neighborhood without my crutches, this is tremendous! Then I did it again! Then I went to 2 grocery stores without them! In total, I walked nearly 6 miles without my crutches, (WITHOUT FALLING!!) This would have been close to impossible a year ago. Maybe I need to reconsider my blog name.

I visited one of the grandest places in North America, Niagara Falls! That was cool!

In 2022, what do I want to do? I always reach high then continue from there.

  1. Learn to drive. This will be expensive, but hopefully worth it.
  2. Go on at least one more date, hopefully more, but I know it will happen when it happens. Maybe I should just shoot for a companion title with someone younger than 45.
  3. Be forced to rename this blog because I no longer need crutches.

Of course, I am just dreaming, and if none of those events happen, I will still learn to be content with what I have. Most of the things that I did in 2021 happened just because I responded to the right random message at the right moment, or filled out the right application. I grew more this year than most, considering other people’s needs and not my own.

God bless you and happy 2022!

  3. You are such an amazing young woman Lacy! I have always admired how you have pushed through to do the things you want! You stated that your goals for 2022 are “just dreams” that’s what your goal were for this were, just dreams! And look what you have accomplished! More than your ” just dreams”!!!! Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Can’t wait to see you shine this year! I still get a smile on my face when I remember seeing you and Anna pulling a wagon up the road to Dani’s house. You brought in a little Christmas tree, read some books to her, I think you girls had Santa hats on. I thought that was so precious what you did for her that day❤️! Have a wonderful New Year!!!

  4. I always say you are amazing, because that’s the only word that comes to mind first. You know, I think you can do anything you want to do.You always go for it, and it seems like you get it. The job you landed is a gift from God, and a gift to the residents. You are exactly who they need. Someone to talk with, someone to cry with, someone to laugh with, and someone to love. You are on an awesome journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes you. Love you so much.
