Wishing into Gratitude- Short Reads for Residents

Somedays it is hard to be grateful for all that you have. Somedays you just want to scream at God asking Him to take your burden and maybe even you with it. Somedays it’s hard to have self control when everything seems so out of control and you cannot do what you want or need to do because of limited mobility or resources. It’s even worse when you watch people you love achieve their dreams and you feel stuck.

I find myself wishing that life was better from time to time. I remember that anyone can wish for anything, not everyone can take that wish and turn it into something to be grateful for. I wish I could walk better but I know because of my limitations I am more patient. Even though pills are sometimes hard to swallow, I am glad of medical advancements. Even though a bed sucks, at least birds come to the window. Even though the aides are busy, they will meet needs with excellent care as soon as they are able.

So I challenge you to turn your wish into something to be grateful for today and every day.

  1. I understand because we all have times when things seem to pile up. What seems to me to help is to try hard to stay positive. If anyone try’s hard to stay positive, it’s you, young lady. Keep blooming.

  3. Very good. We’ve all had times it’s hard to be grateful, but we need to count our blessings every day. Writing them down in a journal would be a good reminder.
